Ideation Workshops

Project background
Creating a free thinking space for my team to come together and think of solutions to problems discovered in NPS reports and other user feedback channels.
Why Do we need Ideation Workshops
-
Flesh out problems in the product
-
To generate a idea bank for the product team
-
Diverse backgrounds bring diverse solutions
-
Increase team participation and sense of pride
Workshop Planning
The first step is gathering all import metrics, NPS and user interview feedback and outline our major issue.
I always like to include an ice breaking session to unwind everyone from their busy schedule and get their brain juices flowing.

Based on the issues outlined I select the method of ideation and set the flow of events.

Finally, I create formats of collecting these ideas and what the possible risks and challenges we might face if we developed them
Moderating the Workshop
I start the workshop by stating the reason for gathering and setting the ground rules.
-
Everyone can express any idea, silly ones are welcome!
-
At this stage please avoid thinking of what technology we need
-
Respecting others and their ideas

In order to have the organizational structure flat, difficult decisions are sorted with voting process.

After all ideas are gathered that's when the team selects feasible ideas and we move on to thinking of risks and challenges

Summary
After collecting the ideas on Miro, I then summarize them in a excel spreadsheet and share it with Product Managers.
The Product Managers connect with the developers and other stakeholders to confirm feasibility. After which, JIRA tickets and mini projects are created.
